Winter Skincare Essentials

Dry skin? Rough elbows? Chapped lips? Winter is not coming, it has arrived. And to ensure your skin is in tip top shape this winter, I’m sharing the most important skincare tips to counter dryness.

Winter essentials

Before we delve into the skincare tips and tricks you should be paying attention to, I cannot stress enough that your skincare regime should adjust from one season to the next. The winter air is drier and humidity lower, so during the colder months you should be opting for oil-based products to help lock in the moisture. For example, consider swapping out lightweight body care for rich body butters like the Tissue Oil Softening Body Butter.

Stay hydrated

When we’re cold, we tend to reach for our coffee mugs more often than our water bottles. If you struggle to keep on top of your daily water intake during the chilly winter months, opt for green tea – it’s certainly the answer to staying warm while keeping your skin and body hydrated.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is important all-year-round, but especially in winter because the season can wreak havoc on your skin’s texture, and you need to exfoliate in order to get rid of the rough patches of flaky skin. The Tissue Oil Exfoliating Cleansing Bar - that contains olive seed powder which accelerates the removal of dead skin cells - makes exfoliation easy, and also contains Vitamin E which will leave the skin smooth and nourished after use.

Face & body oils are essential

Oils are super trendy at the moment. Tap into this trend and drench your face & body in oils, day or night. The Tissue Oil Facial Treatment with Rosehip is filled with goodness in the form of vitamins, rich fatty acids, and a multitude of natural oils which aid in reducing redness, and soothing dehydrated skin. Also, oils are quick to apply and absorb into the skin rapidly, so you’re not going to spend much time working the oil in, and can get dressed almost immediately after.

Layer your products

Layering your skincare products is essential. And more important is the order in which you apply the products to your face & body. For the face, applying products in the following order is recommended: serum first, followed by eye cream, moisturizer, facial oil, and SPF moisturizer (which is only necessary in the daytime). Body care is much simpler as we generally use less products. I suggest that you start with a body butter and finish off with an oil based product like the famous Justine Tissue Oil.

Focus on your night-time skincare routine

Treating your skin overnight, when skin cell renewal is at its peak, is key to keeping your skin looking and feeling amazing in winter. The Tissue Oil Nourishing Body Protector is one to use overnight because it nourishes the skin for up to 24 hours.

Don’t forget the basics

It’s easy to get carried away with taking care of your face and body, but don’t forget the hands, feet and lips. Consider a a multi-use product like the Tissue Oil Multipurpose Moisture Balm, can be used on your entire body. Keep by your bedside and apply some to your lips and hands before going to sleep, and let it work its magic overnight. In winter we tend to hide under layers of clothing, beanies and boots. This doesn’t mean you should neglect what’s under it all. Follow these tips and tricks and you’ll be dying to show some skin!
